Ecotech marine에서 Ecosmart라고 하는 Vortech Driver를 새로 출시 하였습니다. Vortech의 드라이버는 디자인과 독창성이 매우 뛰어난 것으로 유명합니다. 이번에도 기대를 저버리지 않고 깔끔한 외관으로 출시되었습니다.
기존의 MP10,40모델에 대해서는 드라이버 업그레이드가 가능하지만 20모델은 업그레이드가 불가능하다고 합니다. (EchSmart 드라이버가 장착된 모델에는 모델명 맨 마지막에 ES가 붙습니다. MP10ES 이런식입니다)

Ecotech Marine released the EcoSmart Driver today. This is an upgrade for the existing Wireless Wave Driver or WWD and will be included on all new EcoTech vortech pumps. The new driver has improved wirless range new “EcoSmart” wave modes, Auto Tune mode, and additional features. “The wireless range of the EcoSmart wirelessly enabled drivers has been significantly increased. This allows for the controllers of slave pumps to be located further from sight or even in separate locations.”

The EcoSmart Driver features many new modes including:

So, what IS the EcoSmart Driver?

The EcoSmart driver is an upgrade for our existing Wireless Wave Driver (WWD) and will be included on all new EcoTech pumps. This driver has a new and improved wireless range, new “EcoSmart” wave modes, Auto Tune mode, and much much more.

With the introduction of the new EcoSmart driver to the market, we will be offering a wireless version of the MP10 which gives the discerning aquarist much more control over their small or medium size reef aquarium.

In addition to exciting new modes such as Wave Auto Tune and the EcoSmart multi pump modes, the wireless range of the EcoSmart wirelessly enabled drivers has been significantly increased. This allows for the controllers of slave pumps to be located further from sight or even in separate locations.

EcoSmart Product Features and Sales Information

• The new EcoSmart drivers are NOT a standalone product

EcoSmart Tidal Swell Mode
In this EcoSmart mode water is circulated to create a harmonic balance in your aquarium reminiscent of the changing flow conditions that would be found in nature. Over the course of several hours, the flow pattern will go from very chaotic with an emphasis on left to right flow direction to an emphasis on right to left flow direction, all the while experiencing calm period in between and followed by a great surge of flow at the very end of the cycle. Adjusting the dial changes the maximum speed achieved at any time during this mode. Slave pumps should be positioned opposite the master and on the back of the tank to take full advantage of the EcoSmart modes.

EcoSmart Nutrient Transport Mode
In this EcoSmart mode, water is circulated in a two phase program consisting of wave motion to stir up detritus and surging motion to move the detritus into your overflow where it can be skimmed out. This effect promotes maximum health and nutrient export, as well as increased growth for sensitive corals such as SPS. Adjusting the dial changes the maximum speed achieved at any time during this mode. Slave pumps should be positioned opposite the master and on the back of the tank to take full advantage of the EcoSmart modes.

Classic Reef-Crest and Lagoonal Random Modes
In random mode you can toggle between two different modes, Reef-Crest and Lagoonal. When a pump is in Lagoonal Random Mode, the dial is used to set the maximum operational speed, and the driver will automatically randomize the pumps output to simulate either a high (Reef-Crest) or low (Lagoonal) energy reef environment. If this pump is a master, the associated slave pumps will replicate the master in sync or anti-sync modes.

웨이브 모드는 기존의 4개 모드(Lagoonal, Long/short pulse reef crest), 에 새롭게 3개의 모드(wave auto tune, 가 추가되었습니다. Nutrient Transport, Tidal swell mode)
wireless 범위가 넓어졌고 다른 기능에 대한 보완도 이뤄진 것으로 보입니다.
다만 이런 새로운 모드들의 추가는 Vortech 2대이상에서 큰 효과를 발휘할 수 있으므로 1개를 사용하면 차라리 비싼 ES를 사는것 보다 예전것을 그대로 사용하는 것이 더 낫다고 생각하는 Reefer도 있습니다.

昨日少し時間があったので、ＥｃｏＳｍａｒｔのフルマニュアルに目を通しました。で、一つの結論は、2台以上Ｖｏｒｔｅｃｈを所有していないと、コントローラをアップグレードする価値は非常に小さいってことです。理由は単純、新機能のＴＳＭ(Tidal Swell Mode)とＮＴＭ(Nutrient Transport Mode)は複数台のＶｏｒｔｅｃｈの使用を想定しているから。特にＮＴＭはそうみたい。マニュアルの図を見ても、複数個所に付けられたＶｏｒｔｅｃｈによりそれぞれ理想の波を起こしています。
バッテリーバックアップを接続している人は複数台のＶｏｒｔｅｃｈを使用している可能性が高いですし、夜間モードや餌食モードは旧型にもオプションは違えど機能はありますし。1台だけで使用するなら、私なら旧型をお勧めします。値段も安いですしね。

어찌되었던 간에 EcoTech는 끊임없이 사용자들의 voice를 듣고 있으며 계속 발전해 나가는 것이 눈에 보입니다.Customer Service도 예전보다는 많이 좋아져가는 것 같습니다. 관심있으신 분들께 참고가 되었으면 합니다.

spsholic New Product EcoSmart, vortech

Two weeks ago, The problem was from the wet part of Vortech40. The connected part both wet part body and propellar are broken. (I think wet part is semi-permanent)
I should change the new wet part but there is no agent of echotech marine so I decided to change to old wet part for the present.

But the noise from this was so loud I could not maintain to this in my tank. So, in this time, I will use tunze 6000 and 6080 or 6060 (I searched the used 6080 in korea reef club).

I also have tunze 6000 transformer for emergency situation.

잘 사용하고 있던 Vortech wet part부분이 고장이 나서 프로펠러 부분이 헛도는 현상이 발견되었습니다. 분해해 보니 wet part 바디와 프로펠러 부분이 마모되었는지 부러져서 따로 돌고 있더군요. 기존에 있던 예전 부분으로 교체를 했는데 (소음때문에 교체를 했었습니다) 역시나 소음이 생활하는데 거슬리더군요. (Vortech는 왯파트부분과 실제 모터 부분 모두에서 소음이 발생할 수 있습니다.)

75$를 주고 새로 구입할까 하다가 백업용으로 가지고 있던 튠즈를 당분간 사용하기로 했습니다. 원하는 각도를 줄 수 없다는 vortech의 한계도 제 어항에서 조금 느꼈고요.

Update (2008/08/16)

I changed MP40 to MP40w and it is very easy. I removed 4 screws and connect
motor plug to new one. Power on and That's it~!!

There are a varios flow mode in MP40w including feed mode. (Lagoon, Reef crest, Pulse) and the green one is constant mode and yellow and Reef crest)

The only disadvantage that MP40 has is it can not control the flow direction unlike tunze. but I think mp40 is better than tunze personally and Very satisfied...

 주말에 MP40w의 업그레이드를 진행하였습니다.  컨트롤러의 업그레이드는 무척이나 쉬워서 단지 화살표에서와 같이 모터 플러그를 옮겨 연결하고 전원을 연결한 후 세팅을 하면 됩니다. feed mode 뿐 아니라 reef crest, lagoon,pulse 모드를 지원하고 다른 mp40모터와 master-slave로 연결하여 사용할 수 있습니다. 각 master slave는 sync와 anti-sync로 나누어서 컨트롤도 가능하고요. Wireless라고 해서 선이 아예 없는 것인가 했는데 여기에서의 wireless는 다른 펌프와 연결시 무선이라는 것입니다. 멑티컨트롤러에서 유선으로 연결하여 조정하는 tunze보다 훨신 더 강력해졌습니다. 최대 7개의 master에 무제한으로 slave가 붙는다니... 방향조절만 가능하다면 vortech를 따라올 펌프는 거의 없을 것 같습니다.

My Upgrade Kit came to me. MP40W wireless driver is like tunze controller. but I think this is better than tunze. Finally I became one of vertech fan~!! 


The upgrade is very simple.

The VorTech Wireless Wave Driver will upgrade any MP40 model pump to an MP40W model. It only requires that four screws be
removed from the lid of the MP40 driver box, and the motor's plug gently removed and plugged into the new Wireless Wave Driver
board. Then the lid is gently snapped in place and your pump is now wave controllable. Multiple Wireless Wave Drivers can be
combined to provide random and pulsing wave modes.

I will do upgrade this in sunday.

vortech upgrade를 위한 kit를 유사장님으로 부터 받았다. 기존의 스피드 조절만 이었던 기능이 tunze의 컨트롤러 처럼 다양한 수류를 제공하고 다른 vortech 기종과 slave master로 설정하여 같이 동작을 할 수 있도록 되어 있다. 실제 업그레이드도 간단하다고 하는데 일요일에 시간을 내어 천천히 진행해보려고 한다.

Gen2 features a new magnet, high performance plastic drive shaft screw, a revised wet frame cover and is fully backwards compatible with all VorTech pumps. The new magnet is fully encapsulated within black plastic, cannot be scratched or damaged under normal use, is more durable, eliminates rusting and requires no regularly scheduled replacements.

I have a vortech mp40, and the wet part of it has problem. it makes sss noise. so I decided to change the wet part. With this part, I also decide to change new magnet too.
The left one is my new wet part and the right is the new magnet kit.

The upper  screw is new one. and it is made of plastic, so I will not be worried about the rust.

In mp40 manual, We can see the structure of pump. and changing the magnet is
very easy. Just follow the picture~!!

This is my vortech and it has some noise. There is few vortech user in my country (I am only user maybe) so I can not compare mine to others..

I think the noise from youtube is more louder than real noise. so I do not know you can compare mine to yours or not...

실제 소리가 완벽하게 재현되지는 않았지만 vortech의 소음은 굉장히 심한 편이었다. 그래서 심각하게 wet part부분의 교체가 필요했다.
