In December 2008, I tried to use Lumen Brigth for Radium 250w. But I was not satisfied with this bulb and changed to ATI Powermodule

connect vinegar to profilux

수산화칼슘을 섞은 white 식초를 profilux dosing pump에 연결하였습니다.
일단은 2ml씩 5번씩 하루에 공급을 할 계획이며 인수치를 보아가면서 Vodka의 dosing도 맞출 계획입니다.

현재 Dosing pump에는 2-Part도 함께 연결되어 있습니다.
둘다 모두 하루에 110ml씩 공급됩니다.

I connect the white vinegar with kalk to my profilux dosing pump and will be dosed 2ml x 5times a day. and Also I will dose vodka from time being.

    영배님 안녕하세요..
    그동안 Vodka + Sugar + Vinegar로 도징하고 있었는데.
    도징펌프에 연결해놓고 잊어버렸다가 최근 봤더니
    꼭 안에 가래처럼 뭔가 뭉클한 덩어리가 생겼더군요..
    혹시 이런 현상에 대해서 아시는지요.

    그리고 Vinegar 도징 기준은 Vodka 도징할때에 비해서 어느정도로 조절하셨는지요..
    궁금합니다. ^^

    안녕하세요. 제가 알기로 식초등을 오래두면 박테리아가 거기서 생성되는 것으로 알고 있는데요. 설탕이랑 같이 있어서 그렇게 된 것이 아닌가 싶은데요. 오래두면 도징펌프에 막힐 수 있다고 들은 것 같은데 호스부분은 괜찮은지요?
    Vinegar는 Vodka와 1:1 비율입니다.
    40%(80proof)의 Vodka를 1ml 넣었다면 5% vinegar는 8ml 넣는 식입니다. 도수에 따라 4~8배라고 생각하시면 되겠습니다. vinegar를 넣으면 시아노가 줄어든다고 RC에서 보았는데 실제로 보면 오히려 제 어항의 경우 더 늘어나는 것 같은데 일단은 vinegar만가지고 하고 있습니다.

    그렇군요.. 시골의 막걸리식초가 갑자기 생각나네요 ^^;
    다행이 막히지는 않아서 수습했지만
    그냥 vodka나 vinegar 단일 dosing으로 변경해야겠습니다.

섬프의 물높이가 바뀌면서 우연히 스키머 출수 수위를 낮추어 드라이 스키밍을 시도해 보았는데 예전부터 제가 보고 싶었던..다른 분들것을 보면서 부러웠던 장면이 연출되어 소개해 드립니다.

3일된 모습입니다. feeding을 제외하고는 꾸준히 지속적으로 뽑아주는 것 같습니다. 예전에는 볼 수 없었던 광경입니다..감격스럽습니다. :) 이것을 보면서 내가 이전까지 알고 있었던 wet과 dry의 개념이 혹시나 비효율적인 스키밍과 혼동하고 있었던 것은 아닌가..하는 생각이 들었습니다. Dry로 하면 고기들이 금새 백점을 달기가 쉬웠는데 이번의 경우는 dry임에도 불구하고 크게 백점이 오지 않았기 때문입니다. 당분간 좀 두고 볼 생각입니다. 자주 청소만 해준다면 문제가 없지 않을까 생각합니다.

    네..기분은 좋습니다.
    사진의 거품은 alpha cone 200의 권장 수위보다 낮게 했을 때의 결과입니다. 어제 밤에 청소하면서 수위를 권장수위로 했는데 결과를 또 지켜보려고 합니다. :)

PH Calibration in AquaController Jr

PH Probe와 PH보정용액이 도착하였습니다. 저는 Neptune사의 AquaController Jr를 사용하고 있는데요. 오늘은 제 컨트롤러에서 PH프로브 보정하는 방법을 소개하고자 합니다.해수에서는 PH 7과 10용액을 사용하는 것이 좋습니다. 담수에서는 PH4d와 PH7이 맞습니다. 

PH Probe and PH Calibration solution was arrived. Today I will show you how to calibrate PH in AquaController Jr of Neptune systems. For PH calibration of Marine tank. PH7 and 10 solution is better than PH4 and PH7.

이것이 AquaController Jr입니다. 시리즈중에서 가장 작고 저렴한 컨트롤러입니다. 그래도 왠만한 기능은 다 가지고 있는 것 같습니다. 약간 아쉬운 점이라면 ORP Probe를 연결할 수 없는 점입니다. 어찌되었던 Setup메뉴로 들어가서 PH Set UP을 선택한 후 PH Calibrate를 선택합니다.

This is AquaController Jr that is the cheapest model in Neptune Systems. But the functionality is enough to maintain to Marine Life. Just ORP Probe is not available in this model.

Go to Setup->PH Set Up->PH Calibrate.

Calibration은 Low solution부터 시작합니다. Low Solution으로 어떤 것을 선택할 것인지 결정합니다. 저는 7용액이 작은 것이므로 7로 선택합니다.

You should set 7 as the low solution first.

그 다음에 7용액에 프로브를 넣습니다. Settling 수치가 바뀌기 시작합니다.

Put the PH Probe to PH7 solution. Settling value starts to change.

어느순간엔가 숫자가 고정되어 더이상 움직이지 않는 시점이 옵니다. 1분안쪽인것 같습니다. Settling 수치는 어떤 수치든 고정되어 움직이지 않는다면 상관이 없습니다.

The Low Solution Calibration would complete if Settling value is fixed.(Whatever the value is, it does not matter.)

다음은 10용액을 칼리브레이션 할 차례입니다.

And Next Step is calibrating to High solution PH10. The method is same as Low solution.

Low Solution과 마찬가지로 10용액에 넣고 측정하면 됩니다.

Calibration이 완성되었습니다. Pinpoint사의 PH모니터의 경우 용액을 넣고 나사로 미세조정을 계속 해주어야 하지만 이 컨트롤러의 경우 그럴 필요가 없기 때문에 편리합니다. (다른 전자식 컨트롤러도 유사하지 않을까 생각합니다.) 현재 제 어항의 PH는 8.25이네요.

    점등시 ph가 8.25, 새벽 소등시 ph가 8.19 이라면

    오차가 +,- 0.3 이네요.

    저는 그저 부럽기만 합니다. ㅎㅎ

    안녕하세요 드가님..

    사실 별로 신경을 안쓰고 있었습니다. 제 PH 수치가 뭔지도 잘 몰랐고요..이전 PH프로브의 경우 8.6까지 올라갔었습니다. ㅎㅎㅎ(하도 교체를 안해서요...) 요정도면 괜찮은 수치이지요? ^^

    영배님의 ph 오차범위가 +,- 0.03 인데 0.3ㅇ으로 잘못기재했네요. ㅎㅎ

    제 어항은 소등시 7.9 ~ 점등시 8.17 입니다.

    넵...그럴것이라 생각했습니다.

    며칠전에 2-part를 다시 넣었는데 조합을 다르게 해서 그런지 PH가 조금 떨어졌습니다. 다시 바꿀까하다가 귀찮아서 그냥 가기로 했습니다. :)

    제 경우에는 100% 카보네이트만 사용하고 있는데도,

    8.00 - 8.28을 보이고 있습니다. 흑흑.......

PH Probe는 반영구적인 소모품입니다. 그럼에도 불구하고 마땅한 PH Probe를 찾을 수가 없어 미국에서 수입을 하거나 비싸게 수족관에서 구입을 해야 했기 때문에 (수족관에서 9만원정도에 판매하고 있다) 고민이었습니다. PH에는 원래 신경을 잘 쓰지 않고 KH값을 기준으로 지내오다가 2-part의 알칼리니티 용액을 만들기 위해서 내 어항안에 있는 PH수치를 바로 알 필요성이 생겼습니다. (이를 통해 Carbonate와 Bi Carbonate의 비율을 조절하기 위해서입니다)

Korea Reef Club에 문의한 결과 좋은 가격의 PH Probe를 추천해주셔서 구입을 하게 되었습니다.

안에 내용물을 보면 설명서와 함께 용액에 들어있는 프로브를 볼 수 있습니다. 제 기억에 핀포인트제품의 경우 액체 솜같은 것에 싸여 있던 것 같은데 이것은 용액이 들어 있습니다. calibration 4.0 과 Potassium이 들어있다고 적혀 있습니다.

핀포인트사의 프로브와는 다르게 몸체가 투명하게 되어 있어 용액이 들어 있는지 확인하기가 쉽게 되어 있습니다.

Vertex Alpha 200 Skimmer Review

In about 3 weeks ago, (26th August), I introduced my new skimmer vertex alpha 200 skimmer.

I'd like to share my feelings about this with you.
 
Position: (Satisfied)
Now my skimmer is in my sump and the water level is 9 inches. The outlet part is fully opened and initial water level in skimmer is 0.5cm above from skimmer collection cup. I am using the red nozzle for heavy bioload.  Many US reefers recommand water level to 9~9.5 inches, But I think 8~8.5 inches is also OK to use 200 model. Its concept is also plug & Play. You can adjust the water level in your skimmer that you want.

Noise: (Very satisfied)
The one of reason I decided to change the skimmer is noise. My wife and I are a little sensitive to noise especially from sucking air and vibrated motors and relatively thin skimmrer body. (My wife does not like MP40w until now). But Vertex 200 skimmer is very silence. I think more than 2/3 noise are gone. It is from well made motor and silencer.

Performance: (Very Satisfied)
This is the result of skimmate during 3 days.

I should change and be clear to collection cup every 3 days. Powerful skimming and using bacterial method can make my tank to UNLS. But my corals are starving. I will change the skimming from wet style to a little dry. The performance is almost double compared to previous skimmer.

But of course there is demerit in vertex 200, the collection cup.
The inner diameter is relatively bigger than total diameter, so It is very hard to clean the skimmer cup with my hand. I should use some tools ...

But I love my new skimmer and satisfied. and I think I do not have to change this at least If I maintain 100~150 gallon tank.  :)

Aquasun and GE6500

I changed the T5 combination because there is 2 types of T5 bulbs that I want to try. Aquasun and GE
In my ATI Powermodule, I used
3 Aquablue special (14000K)
2 SuperActinic (UVL)
1 Fiji purple (KZ)
4 BluePlus

I removed all Aquablue special bulb and replaced Aquasun , GE and Blue plus.
This is bulb that I changed in weekend

My current combination is

1 Fiji purple
2 Super Actinic
5 BluePlus


I think it is very fun to use all Blueplus T5 bulbs in my ATI.

Profilux Dosing Pump

Recently I change the mind from Ca Reactor to 2-Part dosing. Of course there are so many merits of Ca Reactor but In my case, It is hard to maintain and control Ca Reactor water flow and it makes the unstability of my tank parameters. So I decide to try 2-part dosing, and for convenience, I bought the Profilux Dosing pump.

Profilux is very common in US and EU, but not Korea. There are several kinds of dosing pump available to Korea, but I wanted to use this beuty. :) It supports Auto and Manual mode and I can adjust the day, specific day of week (For example every other day, monday,Thursday only etc). I try to dose KH fluid with this pump and use Auto mode. Auto mode is very easy to use. I just select the number of dosing during 24day and ml. :)

If the result is OK, I wil add Ca Fluid with this pump. Between pumps there are 7.5 minutes gap. If the number1 Pump starts 00:00:00, 2nd Pump starts 00:07:30 and 3rd Pump start2 00:15:00

    I am glad you to study Japanese. Please let me know if there is something I can help.
    "Watasiwa Gakkoue Ikimas" is slightly wrong.
    "Watasiwa" is right from the point of pronounceation, but not from the writing. "Watashi ha" is correct. "Gakkoue" is the same thing as Watashuwa". "Gakkou he" is the correct for the writing.
    "Ikimas" is wrong because you need "u" at the end. "Ikimasu" is correct.
